Unsupported Ride with local BikeWalk VA Chapter members...Ride on your own or with a group.

There are two great rides with ride leaders for Sunday!

  • 8:30 a.m. - Visit historic Reedville and Fleeton on a led 23.8 mile loop beginning in Burgess. Plan to meet in the EVB (Eastern Virginia Bankshares) parking lot at the SW corner of Rt. 200 and Rt. 360. This is a beautiful part of Northumberland County between the Great Wicomico River and the Chesapeake Bay. Lots of water views!!!!
  • 8:30 a.m. - Visit the Rappahannock River side of the Neck by taking the Morattico Loop. Group ride starts from Lancaster High School on Rt. 3 (8 miles west of Kilmarnock).  This is a scenic ride on back roads through Alfonso and Nuttsville and then going on to Morattico. You come back via Lively to the high school. Who wouldn’t want to go to Nuttsville or Lively on a Sunday morning?  Cue sheets are available for either ride at Hospitality or at each meeting area on Sunday.

If you want to stay put, you can bike any of the Northern Neck RiverRide routes on your own using your Tour Book and experience more of the unique culture and scenery that the Northern Neck has to offer. Explore Windmill Point to the east and visit Historic Christ Church, open 2:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m., or the Steamboat Era Museum in Irvington, open 1 pm - 4 pm, on your way. Be adventuresome--explore a road not highlighted on the map!

Great hiking trails were along the routes too! Just off Shiloh School Rd. (605) is Dameron Marsh and Hughlett’s Point. Go to Lancaster Court House (Rt. 3 & 604) to Hickory Hollow Nature Preserve or just off Knights Run Rd. (642) on the Century Route is Bush Mill Nature Preserve. All are free.
